Caswell House Etiquette Class

Class Description:

The Caswell House Etiquette Class is a six-week program, beginning in mid-June and ending in July. Enrollment is limited to 12 students per class and is open to both girls and boys.

Essential Etiquette is for students ages 6-13 and meets on Wednesdays, 6:00 - 7:00 pm. This is the program the Caswell House has offered for the past several years. Topics include:

Social Skills	Dining Skills
Introducing Yourself & Others Posture & Body Language Conversation Skills Dealing with Difficult People & Situations Safety Skills Telephone Etiquette Thank-you Notes Public Speaking	Setting a Proper Table Seating Yourself & Others Correct Use of Dining Utensils Correct Use of Napkins Shared Items at the Dinner Table Dining Styles (American & Continental) Coursed Meals

All classes will be held at The Caswell House, 1404 West Avenue at 15th Street. Attendance is required at all lessons for a student to receive a certificate of completion at the final lesson.

Parents are expected to drop-off and pick-up their students on time.

Students should dress casually for Lessons 1-5. For Lesson 6, students should wear dressy attire: girls should wear dresses or suits, and boys should wear coat and tie. Lesson 6 will combine both Wednesday sessions into one formal dinner event from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

Some food will be provided at each lesson. In most cases, it will be just enough food to practice specific dining skills, not a full meal. If your student has any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know at the time of enrollment.

There is a registration fee for attending the class. Proceeds benefit the preservation projects of the Caswell House, which is a city, state, and national historic landmark. The Caswell House Etiquette Class is staffed by Austin Junior Forum volunteers, and all instructors are donating their time and expertise.
