2019 Caswell House Closure and Renovations

Austin’s historic Daniel H. Caswell House, built in 1900, has been home to the nonprofit Austin Junior Forum for 41 years and has hosted the much-loved Christmas at the Caswell House fundraising event since 1983. It’s also served as popular wedding reception venue and has been the site of annual children’s etiquette classes for many years. Now, the Caswell House will be closed through early fall 2019 to receive updates and renovations. Regretfully, this includes the cancellation of Christmas at Caswell for 2019.

The renovation plan includes replacement of selected flooring on the first and second floors, new cabinetry in the first-floor kitchen, kitchen counter replacement in the 2nd floor kitchen, updates to bathrooms, and other modernizations. The repairs are a result of a water leak earlier this summer and while the timing is unplanned, the renovation efforts will encompass other updates that have been in the planning stages for some time.

“Although we’ve been forced to act on a faster timeline than we had planned, we’re excited to embark on this renovation of one of Austin’s most cherished historic homes,” said Cindy Payne, President of Austin Junior Forum. “When we unveil these upgrades, we are certain our future Christmas at Caswell attendees, brides and grooms, and other event guests will enjoy the revamped amenities and experience.”

The Caswell House is currently closed with plans to reopen in November 2019. Those interested in booking the venue for events after this time are encouraged to call (512) 472-0779.  Please follow us on social media and visit www.caswellhouse.org for updates on progress. Note that this closure does not affect Saving Face, the medical spa also located at 1404 West Street.
